I know. It’s only September. It’s not going to snow in Jersey for at least another two or three months! What gives?
So two years ago we lived here… (I can’t find a photo of our old house after all the exterior trim work was done, oh well)
We had all about 20 square feet of concrete to shovel off after every snow storm.
Then last year we sold that house and moved into the home we live in now and we didn’t own a snowblower. Well, not true. I was the snowblower. Subsequently, we got buried on multiple occasions. After about the first 3″, I decided I was going to bite the bullet and buy one. Unfortunately, after Christmas, the only model I could find for sale was on craigslist, and looked something like this…
Hey for only $100, this little guy is a work horse.
So we toughed out last winter. I did catch a break on a few occasions when a helpful neighbor with a snowblower was able to unbury our driveway. Thanks Ed!
Here’s a few shots of our snow from last year…
Finnie chases John around the shed.
This year, though, I wasn’t playin. A couple weeks ago, Lowes ran a 15% off sale on snowblowers, so we made our move. These are the specs we were looking for based on recommendations from online articles and friends with blowers:
– At least a 200cc engine
– 24″ wide or more
– Reverse capable
– 2 Stage
– Remote shute control
– Under $800
We ended up settling on this model:
It’s a pretty sweet looking model. Once it actually snows, I’ll post on it’s performance.
Anyone else making any pre-emptive winter strikes?
